First Attempt at Maitake Cultivation, Indoor and Outdoor Fruiting Experiment
This is my first attempt at cultivating Maitake mushroom (Grifola frondosa), so I figured I would try to fruit a couple blocks outdoors, and a couple inside. The strain I'm currently growing is the "Dancing Hens" commercial strain from Mycelium Emporium. Maitake are considered a "moderate" difficulty mushroom in terms of cultivation, and good yields and normal fruit body formation can be tricky. This video mainly covers my strategy to get two of the blocks to give me a natural outdoor fall fruiting by shallowly burying them in an open spot in my vegetable garden. UPDATE 2023: These never produced any mushrooms in the garden for me, but they fruited beautifully indoors in my humidity chamber.
