MG TD & TF kingpin seals / rebuild
While the brakes are off the TD assembly project, it’s the perfect time to address the dry rotted seals on the front kingpins. They were replaced approximately 15 yrs ago when the owner started the process, but rubber components for our cars these days tend to not always have the life span we would like them to. We show how to remove them from the car, take them to the workbench to disassemble them, and talk about how they work. We show how the sleeves can get stuck in the bushings, and how the threads on the vertical pins can get damaged if the sleeves are not removed before disassembly. Then reassemble them showing how the repair manual and real life don’t always match up perfectly. Look for more videos on this TD as we finish putting it all together.
