Guy Ritchie Interview: In the Grey, RocknRolla 2, Sherlock Holmes 3, Jason Statham’s Viva la Madness
From Black Bear Pictures, writer-director Guy Ritchie returns to the big screen and another elaborate criminal underworld with In the Grey, where stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Eiza González, and Henry Cavill operate in a reality where every cause has immediate effects. Talking with Collider’s Steven Weintraub, Ritchie explains, “In our world, cause and effect, and price and product, have deliberately been separated,” but in the Grey, “You have to be smart, because if you're not, you die.” In addition to discussing this ruthless world of elite operatives, in which our trio finds themselves in a deadly game of survival, Ritchie talks with us about the potential to return to some of his most talked about movies, like Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law’s Sherlock Holmes franchise (which Prime Video’s Young Sherlock has proven there’s still a hunger for) and Gerard Butler’s 2008 crime comedy RocknRolla. During their conversation, Ritchie also chats about a future project that is not only confirmed but has wrapped filming. After “10 years or more,” the director and Jason Statham’s passion project, action thriller Viva la Madness, is finally in the editing process, and Ritchie teases it’s a fun and wild ride — “The clue’s in the title.” You can check out all of this and more in the video above.
