Il Problema degli Oceani di cui non Parla Nessuno.
A silent crisis is unfolding in the oceans: deoxygenation. Entire areas are becoming inhospitable to marine life, and the problem affects not only the sea but also lakes around the world. In this video, we explore why oxygen is disappearing, who is to blame (spoiler: yes, climate change is involved), and what consequences this transformation has for the ecosystem... and for us. We'll discuss hypoxia, anoxia, eutrophication, climate change, and how all of this is affecting the lives of fish like cod in the Baltic Sea and the chemical balance of the oceans. I was born in 1996, have a degree in chemistry, and work in science communication. I am a research fellow at the "Toso Montanari" Department of Industrial Chemistry at the University of Bologna. I mainly deal with environmental and everyday chemistry. I study and combat chemophobia, the irrational fear of (synthetic) chemicals. With the program "Science on the Couch," I interview scientists and science communicators in a disgustingly informal manner. I hold conferences and meetings in schools (poor students!). Since 2019, I have collaborated on the creation of Superquark+ for RaiPlay, and since 2023, I have been a science communicator for Noos on Rai1. I wrote "C'è chimica in casa" (Mondadori, 2022) and, with Simone Angioni and Stefano Bertacchi, "Quello che sai sulla plastica è sbagliato" (Gribaudo, 2023). What do I use to make the videos? Camera: Sony A7SIII Lens: Sigma 24–70mm F2.8 Studio Audio: Rode NTG3 and Zoom F6 External Audio: Rode Wireless Go II and Sennheiser MKE 40 Stabilized Footage: DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Music: from Envato Elements Follow me for more videos on science and its curiosities — I discovered this topic while I was studying for my master's degree, because my teacher in the course on fundamentals and teaching of ecology was Michele Casini, who had Karin Limburg hold a seminar. The work on cod I discuss in the video is one of their publications.
