"A Message To You, Rudy" - The Superskas

West Midlands based Ska tribute act The Superskas performing the 1967 Rocksteady classic "Rudy, A Message to You" originally performed by Dandy Livingstone and famously covered by The Specials in 1979 as "A Message to You, Rudy". Since then it has been performed by a huge variety of acts including Madness, Amy Winehouse, Pete Doherty, Sublime, Barenaked Ladies, Dead Milkmen and The Mescaleros. The Superskas are an energetic eight-piece band with over 8 years experience playing live together. Complete with horn section and both male and female vocalists, The Superskas perform authentic covers of ska classics from the last 50 years that are guaranteed to fill the dance-floor. Dressed from head to toe in original ska & mod gear, the band look as good as they sound. Covering hits from first wave artists such as Toots & the Maytals and Desmond Dekker, through to second wave artists such as The Specials and Madness, The Superskas really are the ultimate tribute to Ska and 2tone. The Band was founded in 2005 by Andy Heseltine who is a long time afficionado of Ska. He was joined by Ed Davies (Vox and Guitar), Lorraine Stuart (Vox) , Scottie Edge (Bass), Roger Westwood and Ryan Pinson on Kit and Percussion. Ed and Loz were joined on Vocals by Brian Wright, known as BeeDubya and latterly just Dubbs. In 2009, they found a couple of itinerant brass players unconscious at a beer festival and have been trying to get rid of them ever since. Alun David (Trombone) and David Hipkiss (Trumpet) eventually sobered up and realised that being in a Ska band was actually good fun, and insisted on staying. Various eminent local characters guested on occasions and can be seen in the Media gallery if you look closely.
