3 Years in: Oxford Botley Road Rail Bridge Roadworks 10th April 2026

Botley Road in Oxford closed at the railway bridge 11th April 2023 for the demolition and replacement of the railway bridge and improvements to Botley Road and footpaths under the bridge. Three years later, this video shows an 'over the fence' walkthrough of the construction work - from Frideswide Square on the east side of Oxford Rail Station, to Botley Road and The Westgate Hotel on the west side of the bridge. Work to re-open Botley Road at the railway bridge is currently scheduled to be completed in August 2026, but works to the shared foot and cycle paths and train station are due to continue after this date. The video shows the progress of the construction works, including the new southern shared path. We can also clearly see how much soil was piled on top of the new road surface to protect it from the heavy machinery used to remove and replace the bridge.
