She is the author of more than 22 narrative publications, three plays, several films, and multiple industrial design patents. Her stories are deeply rooted in place, culture, and her experience as a psychologist, coach, and applied social scientist. Her work has been nominated for several honors, including an NAACP Image Award, a Doctorow Award for Innovative Fiction, and multiple African American Literary Awards. Her films have been featured and awarded at festivals including the Sundance Film Festival and the Urban Mediamakers Film Festival.
