Write With Me Day 4

Word count in this video: 92,394 to 93,006 (612 new words) Chapter 25 Total goal: 350,000 words I am doing copy work from Lonesome Dove as I go through this project, and today was the first time I moved on to my own next chapter before typing out the corresponding chapter in Lonesome Dove. I'm not following the plot of Lonesome Dove with any real strong or precise intention. I'm more just trying to make my pace match his because I feel I can learn a lot about craft by doing it this way. I did some writing first thing this morning, from my laptop, just after rolling out of bed, because it's often useful to move straight from sleep into writing. I'd felt this in the past, but it was confirmed by the book I'm reading, From Where You Dream, a brilliant series of transcribed lectures. Where possible, it's good to get a jump on the day that way. So the 612 new words for today represents work beyond what's seen in the 18-min video. I'm fast, but I'm not that fast. ABOUT THIS CHANNEL This writing channel is an art project. It is not going to be optimized for the algorithms in any way. So if you found it, welcome! I'm writing a book based loosely on Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. I'm following McMurtry's narrative pace in order to understand how he built the book — the setting and characters and so forth are all my own. The channel is here to document my entire writing process, along with whatever else comes into my head to do here (probably some art and music, almost definitely some grammar and poetry videos). ABOUT ME If you want to read things I've written, you can find me on Substack with a cheeky Google search. Publication title: Play Theory. Thanks for watching!
