Episode 15: We are back at Pine Ranch. It is April and we get to follow along as Erika makes identification ear tags for the new calves. The male calves get red tags and the female calves get yellow tags so that calves are easier to sort at weaning. Each calf gets two tags, one that tracks the lineage of the calf and a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag is part of the food safety system in Canada. Every animals that leaves the ranch has to have an RFID tag that links back to the operation. If there was a food safety issues, the animal could be tracked back to the operation where it was raised. Join us each month as Erika shares a new video about what is happening on her cattle ranch in Saskatchewan.
