Marine Navigation DEMYSTIFIED: Hurricane (Tropical Revolving Storm) Avoidance at Sea

My hurricane avoidance article, based on relative motion plot, was published in Cruising World magazine in November 1997. Within days after the magazine arrived in stores, a reader sent me a letter to suggest I do a hurricane avoidance article using the dangerous and navigable semicircles. His suggestion prompted me, after 25 years, to write and produce this video about three popular methods for hurricane avoidance at sea. Without a doubt, timely and effective storm avoidance techniques are essential for safe navigation during hurricane season, especially now that climate change is evidently exacerbating global ocean warming. Moreover, the U.S. Coast Guard certificate of competency exams contain questions on storm avoidance.
