Built in 1921, this basement honky tonk has sawdust on the floor, a jukebox that still plays 45s, a table with Hank Williams Sr.'s name carved into it, and Arkey Blue's first Sears & Roebuck guitar hanging on the wall. Every Saturday night at 8 o'clock, Arkey Blue himself walks out on that stage with his Blue Cowboys. He's been doing it since 1968. Fifty-seven years and counting. Robert Earl Keen wrote "Feelin' Good Again" at this bar. Willie Nelson has played here. Someone once brought a longhorn steer in through the red door. Arkey nearly lit a barstool on fire playing a prank. The City of Bandera renamed Main Street "Arkey Blue's Silver Dollar Highway." The walls look like a cowboy museum — wild boar heads, street signs, gun holsters, a Dolly Parton pinball machine, a vintage wooden phone booth. Every inch a story. Every story true. This is the Cowboy Capital of the World's best-kept secret and best-known treasure.
