Denim items are a true classic that never goes out of style. No matter how trends change, denim always stays relevant. People of all ages wear it, it suits any style, and it easily pairs with other materials. Denim fabric is durable, comfortable, and only gets more interesting over time. The most amazing thing about denim is that even when an item is worn out, the fabric itself often remains in good condition. Even if the denim is faded, worn, or full of holes, that’s not a drawback—in fact, it’s a big plus. Such fabric has character and gives pieces a special charm. You can make a huge variety of new items and accessories from old jeans. Bags, makeup pouches, cases, belts, jewelry, decorative elements—the possibilities are endless. This time, I decided to use denim scraps as appliqués on a black tank top. I wanted to refresh a simple piece without major alterations or complicated sewing. First, I cut out a four-petal template. The shape is simple but looks interesting. Then, using this template, I cut petals from denim fabric. Next, I arranged the denim petals on the black shirt, choosing the pattern and placement to make everything look harmonious. When I was happy with the result, I decided to make the process easier by fusing each petal to the top with fusible webbing. This is very convenient: the fabric stays in place, doesn’t shift, and sewing becomes much easier. After that, I stitched all the petals on the machine. At the end, I slightly frayed the edges of each petal. The denim immediately took on a fresh new look. In the end, without complicated alterations or extra expenses, I got an updated t-shirt with a unique decoration. That’s how old denim scraps got a second life, and I got a new favorite piece in my wardrobe.
