Devious Board Game Review | Bluffing, Anti-Set Collection & Faerie Tricks

In this video, I review Devious, the fantasy card game from Smirk & Dagger Games designed by Glenn Cotter. Devious is an anti-set collection game where players compete to assemble the most valuable alliance of faeries. Unlike traditional set collection games that reward matching cards, Devious encourages players to collect a variety of different faerie tribes while avoiding duplicates that can reduce their final score. The game also features a unique hidden-hand mechanic where opponents arrange your cards face down, forcing you to make decisions without knowing exactly which card you are playing. Each game includes thirteen different faerie tribes, each with its own special ability. Players can customize which tribes are included, creating a different mix of powers and interactions from game to game. As players recruit faeries and activate abilities, they must balance scoring opportunities with the uncertainty created by hidden information and bluffing. Designed for 2–6 players, Devious plays in approximately 20–40 minutes and is recommended for ages 10 and up. The combination of hand management, bluffing, player interaction, and variable setup creates a light strategy experience with plenty of replayability. Whether you're a fan of card games, fantasy themes, bluffing mechanics, or unique twists on set collection, this review takes a look at what Devious brings to the table. 👍 Like the video, 🔔 subscribe for more board game reviews, unboxings, playthroughs, and tabletop gaming content!
