The Volvo V60 represents a segment that is basically extinct in the U.S. When it comes to compact luxury wagons, we’re left with just two choices: the Audi A4 Allroad and the Volvo V60. The V60 is available as either the lifted Cross Country variant - with higher ground clearance and plastic cladding, or this performance-oriented, plug-in hybrid Polestar Engineered model. The Polestar division equipped the V60 with manually adjustable Öhlins dampers, a front strut bar, stiffer springs, and six-piston front Brembo brakes, enhancing its handling and making it more engaging to drive. Over the years, Volvo has upgraded the T8 drivetrain that powers the V60 Polestar Engineered. Besides adding a larger battery pack and a more powerful electric motor, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood has dropped its supercharger. It is now exclusively turbocharged. The combined powertrain output is 455 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque, allowing for a 0–60 mph time of about 4.1 seconds. Being a plug-in hybrid, the V60 Polestar Engineered also offers up to 41 miles of pure electric range - more than enough for most daily commutes. As for the transmission, the V60 uses an 8-speed automatic made by Aisin. There’s no physical driveshaft; the front axle is powered by the internal combustion engine, while the rear axle is driven by the electric motor.
