Real-time simulations for the new Istanbul Grand Airport

In January 2018, the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI) of Türkiye were preparing for the opening of a third airport in Istanbul to accommodate the growth of traffic in the region which was expected to double in the following decade, surpassing the number of 2,000,000 flights which would need to be handled by Türkiye per year. EUROCONTROL and DHMI ran a series of real-time simulation sessions at #EIH, the EUROCONTROL Innovation Hub, in Brétigny, France, to support the implementation of a radically new airspace design for the Istanbul TMA (terminal manoeuvring area).
