First Time Overlanding... Coyotes Surrounded My Van
My first overland camp in The Beast turned into way more of an adventure than I expected. I set up the camper van next to a cold, clear-running creek, cooked dinner in my cast iron wok, baked dessert inside my Coleman camo oven, and settled in for a peaceful night… until the coyotes showed up. There’s something special about cooking inside the van with the doors wide open, hearing the creek flow just a few feet away, and feeling that first real sense of “this is home out here.” The cast iron wok cooked amazing camp food, the little Coleman oven surprised me with a perfect dessert, and the whole setup made this van feel like a tiny cabin on wheels. But once the sun went down, the woods came alive. Coyotes closed in tighter than I expected, and we could hear them circling around the van in the dark. It made for a wild first night and a perfect reminder that when you camp off grid… you’re never really alone. If you enjoy van life, overlanding, solo camping, creekside camp cooking, and real outdoor adventures, you’re going to love this one.
