The Constitution of the Soviet Union, adopted in 1936, guaranteed workers the right to vacation and rest. The Labor Law granted workers in the Soviet Union a net 28 paid annual leave days for an 11-month working year. Soviet workers were assigned to these sanatoriums based on the difficulty and danger of their jobs. These sanatoriums, located in many parts of the Soviet Union, housed recreation centers with a health priority, designed to rejuvenate workers psychologically and physically, allowing them to return to work.
