Conversation with Christiane Amanpour

On June 5, 2026, the Asfari Institute for Civil Society & Citizenship at the American University of Beirut (AUB) hosted a conversation with Christiane Amanpour, a renowned journalist and recipient of AUB's 2026 Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters. In conversation with Nora Boustany and followed by a short Q&A, the discussion reflected on journalism's role in times of conflict, the pursuit of accountability, and the challenges facing human rights in an increasingly polarized world. Drawing on decades of reporting from conflict zones around the globe, Amanpour shared insights on truth-telling, bearing witness, and journalism's responsibility amid growing threats to democratic values and international norms.
