Cutting Calves: Our Bulls Turned Into Steers

On today's video we are turning our bull calves into steers. Watch to find out how we do that. A bull calf is castrated to become a steer. It helps them grow faster and get fatter when going to the feedlot. Since all of our male calves go to a market (either shown and sold or straight to the market), this helps them grow. There are many ways to castrate a bull, but for our commercial herd, we found the best way is to cut them around 250 pounds and just catch them, throw them and then cut them. It's all just a part of the ranching world and a step in the process to get beef on your table.
