A Day in My Life as a FLEX Exchange Student in America Hi! My name is Irina, I’m from Moldova, I'm a FLEX finalist 2025 - 2026. I spent an entire school year in the United States, where I attended an American high school, lived with a host family, and experienced a completely new culture, traditions, and way of life every day. I share my full experience and tips for future FLEX applicants there. I filmed this vlog back in September, but I only found the time to edit it now, in July. Time goes by incredibly fast. And honestly, I think that’s a good thing, because back then I was fully present in those moments. I wasn’t thinking about editing or creating content — I was simply living and enjoying my exchange year. To be honest, editing this video was much harder than I expected. Every single clip brought me back to those days: Friday night football games, crowded stadiums, trying to catch a T-shirt, marching band, meeting friends, and our traditional trips to Raising Cane’s after the games. These little moments are the things I miss the most. I miss my host family, my school, my teachers, my friends, and the atmosphere that surrounded me every single day. This year changed me more than I could have imagined. It taught me how to become more independent, more confident, embrace changes, and appreciate every moment. I always say one thing: it doesn’t matter what state, city, or school you end up in. The most important thing is the people around you. They are the ones who make a place special. They are the reason you want to come back, and they are the people you miss the most. After this year, I truly feel like the richest person — not because of material things, but because of the experiences, memories, friendships, and life lessons I gained. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to live this year, and I know these moments will stay with me forever. Thank you to every person who was a part of my exchange year. Thank you for the support, friendship, laughter, conversations, adventures, and memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
