⚖ On Wednesday, July 15, the Accusation Committee of the Council of Magistrates unanimously resolved to summon Federal Judge Cristina Pozzer Penzo of Goya, pursuant to Article 20 of the regulations, to exercise her right to defense against the accumulated complaints. The summons was set for August 26. It is worth clarifying that this is the magistrate known for her role in the case of the abduction and concealment of the child Loan Danilo Peña. 🎙 📻 In this context, Liliana Romero interviewed Juan José Ferreyra, Secretary of the Corrientes Regional Branch of the UEJN (Union of Employees of the National Judiciary), on the program “Dialogando” on Radio Sudamericana. Ferreyra also serves as Federal Electoral Secretary in Federal Court No. 1 of Corrientes. 🔴 The complaint: harassment and workplace mistreatment. Ferreyra provided details about the complaint filed by the UEJN (Union of Judicial Employees of the Nation) two and a half years ago against Judge Pozzer Penzo for harassment and mistreatment of court employees under her supervision. She emphasized that the main objective is to guarantee a healthy work environment. She also highlighted that the affected employees have submitted medical documentation that supports the impact of the harassment on their mental health, which resulted in transfers and leaves of absence. 💬 “Nobody likes having to file a complaint against a judge. What we seek, nothing more and nothing less, is for them to work in a healthy work environment. During the process, the judge has the opportunity to exercise her right to defense, to evaluate and assess the evidence,” she stated. 🟣 Will the complaint be dismissed or will a jury trial be initiated? The union representative explained that, in this new formal stage, after hearing from the accused judge, the Accusation Committee of the Council of the Judiciary must issue a ruling so that the Plenary can make the final decision. There are three possibilities: ⏩ If the Council determines that the reported events do not constitute a disciplinary offense or grounds for misconduct, the complaint should be dismissed. ⏩ If it considers that there is sufficient evidence of misconduct or crimes committed in the exercise of her duties and approves the accusation, the case is formally referred to the Jury of Impeachment, an independent body responsible for deciding whether or not the judge is removed from office. ⏩ There is an intermediate option: if the offense is not serious enough to warrant removal, the Council can impose a disciplinary sanction (such as a fine or a warning). 🟡 Union concern. Juan José Ferreyra emphasized that the union is seeking to prevent the case from expiring, as already happened with the complaints filed by the secretaries of the Federal Court of Paso de los Libres, when Pozzer Penzo was the presiding judge of that court. 🟢 After three years, the case could become legally ineffective due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. For this reason, he highlighted the recent step taken by the Council of Magistrates in summoning the judge, and considered it crucial because it allows them to move forward with the process before reaching that time limit. 💬 “How paradoxical that there is no justice in the justice system.
