Al Madam Buried "Ghost" Village in the Sharjah Desert

In this vlog, I explore an Abandoned village buried deep in the heart of the Sharjah desert. The village was built in the 1970’s or 80’s by the Sharjah government for the local Al Kutbi tribe. A few years later, the inhabitants mysteriously abandoned the village. No one knows exactly what happened to them or whether they became integrated within the neighboring towns, but the fact is, they left in a hurry! According to a local legend, the village became haunted by a group of mysterious “Ginn’s” or Evil spirits that drove the people away from their village. Over the years the wind and the sand began to bury the village and mother nature came to reclaim what is rightfully hers. Today the houses are almost completely buried in sand and what remains, stands as a reminder for those that once lived here… It’s about a 1-hour drive to the turn off from Dubai and a further 2.5KM through the desert when travelling along the E44 road. You will need a 4WD for the last 2km section through the sand! There is also an alternative route in from the other side on the E55 road, which is accessible with a sedan. You can park at the end of the neighbouring village and then walk the last 800m to the abandoned village along the dirt road. All drone footage was taken in 2021 before the drone ban was instated in the UAE.
