How to Run the Right Effort | Full Training Week
Training for distance running is a balancing act between hard and easy efforts. Not to mention that each phase of a training block is designed uniquely. Sometimes, the primary goal of a training block is to build aerobic strength (the base phase), and sometimes, the goal is to run anaerobic efforts that build up copious amounts of lactic acid in the legs and allow you to peak in competitive races (the anaerobic phase). At the end of the day, though, learning how to run the right effort on the right day can be challenging and requires careful attention to what your body is saying. In this 41 minute video, I take you through a week of summer training where I'm attempting to build base fitness in preparation for the 2024 NCAA D2 Cross Country Championships in November.
