The Best Clips From "South" (First gay TV drama 1959)
My fave clips of "South" the first gay TV drama with my grandpa Graydon Gould as the handsome Eric! 🌈 Broadcast LIVE in 1959 on ITV, directed by Mario Prizek. Peter Wyngarde plays the fantastically brave role of Jan Wicziewsky, and passed away sadly last year. This was shown just 2 years after the Wolfenden Report, when homosexuality was still extremely taboo. I'm very proud of my grandpa for being a part of this. These are my favourite clips, showing when Jan first sees Eric and falls in love, then how he struggles with his feelings and how to express them.
