Can we govern AI before it governs us?

Over the past few years, AI has become part of our everyday lives, driving much of what we do. It has significantly changed the way we think, learn and communicate. According to the UN report ‘AI for Good’, while artificial intelligence has led to major breakthroughs in medicine, strengthened food security and reduced inefficiencies in public services, it has also contributed to declining IQ scores among young people. So, as AI develops faster than any previous technology, how can humanity bring it under control before it outpaces our ability to govern it?
