How to fix Johnson Ranger Transmitter loss of Modulation Easy steps using a common DVM
Another Johnson Ranger hits the bench of D-Lab. I thought it would be a simple repair, however this one threw me a curve ball. Turned out there were 2 issues causing the loss of modulation. All is well now and the Ranger is close to complete. Remember with these vintage Ham pieces, always change out those old troublemaker wax caps. There is no reason to keep them, no mojo, just trouble waiting and also a major contributor to transformer failure. Lets keep these relics going for another 50 years!
