Buying a Commercial Keg and Serve It at Home (It’s Easier Than You Think) | The Malt Miller
Most people assume kegs are for pubs, festivals, or “someone who knows a bloke” They’re not, and serving beer from a keg at home isn't something that's exclusive to home brewers with full dispense set ups and skilled in packaging their home brew beer. In this video, we show how to buy a commercial keg from a brewery (or somewhere like Booker), hook it up to a homebrew kegerator, and pour proper pints at home. If you’re already kegging your own beer, this is just using the same kit used in a slightly different way. Same gas, same lines — just a different coupler. It's a handy thing to know even if you are an avid home brewer too, as you might want to grab a keg from a brewery if you have a party coming up, or you just really fancy having "that beer" on at home! We run through where to get kegs in the UK, what you actually need to connect them, and how to get them pouring cleanly without wasting half the keg figuring it out. It’s not complicated — but there are a couple of bits that trip people up if you’ve only ever used corny kegs. If you’ve been curious about putting a brewery beer on tap at home, this will get you there. We cover: – Where to actually buy commercial beer kegs in the UK – What fittings and connections you need (this is where most people get stuck) – How to hook a commercial keg up to a home system – Serving pressure, temperature, and getting a clean pour – The small things that make the difference Got questions about your setup?
