How toxicants induce toxicity in liver, kidney, lung & brain? (Free notes: Organ toxicology) 2022
Free notes: https://lighthousepharmaco.wixsite.co... The material first covers the general factors that determine if toxicity occurs and prevention strategies, followed by specific organ toxicity on the liver, kidney, lung & brain. Different aspects on anatomy & functions of the organs, general mechanism of toxicity, factors that mediate the severity of toxicity, examples of toxicants & implications in prescribing are also described for each organ. This video ends with two examples of toxicants, namely gabapentin & paraquat to illustrate the combined drugs effect to induce toxicity & different nature of toxicants with toxicity effects on multiple organs. The content of this video is an overall introduction to toxicology within a first year pharmacology course. Thus, the content is insufficient for a toxicology student. Videos on toxicodynamics, toxicokinetics & basics of pharmacokinetics + pharmacodynamics can also be found in my channel. If you're a patient/family member/any member of the public who wants to learn more about the medication/disease that you're interested in, you're welcomed to view the videos. Any health concerns, do consult your doctor as there's a lot of factors into consideration before the doctor chooses the most suitable medication for you. WHO AM I: Hi! I’m Dr Yuen, a pharmacist @ pharmacology lecturer in a pharmacy school. I’m reorganising my lectures for my students, hopefully it’ll be useful for you too in your revision. A major upgrade will be done soon on the video style, hopefully it’ll be more interesting for you to watch it till the end for the information.
