Mercedes 107 SL drive shaft and centre bearing removal
This video shows how to remove the prop shaft and centre bearing on a 1976 R107 Mercedes 280 SL 4 speed manual. On this particular car the flexible rubber flanges were stuck fast to the drive shaft and had to be removed in situ. It was possible to remove the prop shaft without having to undo the intermediate nut which holds both parts of the drive shaft together and also without having to remove the exhaust. It is really important before you start, to get some Tippex or chalk and make sure you mark where each part of the prop shaft attaches to the various flanges and particularly how the prop shaft fits together. Remember to support the transmission before you take off the cover plate and axle.
