Traditional Fungicide Treatments ARE INACTIVE Olive leaf spot (Pilo) has been, and still is, the most important fungal disease affecting olive groves in Spain. Traditionally, applications of preventative fungicides based on copper as the active ingredient are carried out, but these pesticides are not effective against olive leaf spot. Olive leaf spot has been present in Spanish olive trees for some time, although currently, due to climate change, it is becoming more prevalent, and according to experts, in a few years it will be even more of a concern than olive leaf spot. Global warming is causing increasingly warmer springs, which favors the proliferation of olive leaf spot, whose optimal development temperature is around 23°C. Recent studies demonstrate that the active ingredients effective against olive leaf spot are FOLPET and TEBUCONAZOLE. Therefore, our recommendation for a complete preventative treatment in spring for olive groves would be a combination of the following three active ingredients: 🟣 Copper oxychloride for olive leaf spot (Repilo) as a contact fungicide. 🟣 Folpet for olive leaf spot and olive leaf curl (Repilo) as a penetrant fungicide. 🟣 Tebuconazole, also for both, as a systemic fungicide that will also protect new shoots from within.
