This book aims to offer the general public—readers, teachers, students, residents of Mérida, and visitors—a glimpse into Augusta Emerita and the National Museum of Roman Art, accompanied only by essential information. It seeks to capture the emotions that arise from a thoughtful understanding of a city where the past is ever-present and intertwines to shape the future. It is a book of emotion and narrative; the emotion evoked by lay knowledge, though grounded in the discoveries of so many who have dedicated themselves to this work. It also proposes a virtual and physical tour of the streets of Augusta Emerita, aided by the fold-out map included at the end of the book. José María Barbado is a member of the Museum's Cultural Volunteers group. This publishing project was made possible thanks to the Erasmus+ Project 'Learning and Teaching Museums'.
