While in high school, he joined the Adana Music Society and began his musical education. In 1980, he passed the Radio Special Entertainment exam and started working at TRT (Turkish Radio and Television Corporation). In Ankara, he became close friends with Osman Yağmurdereli and Kamil Sönmez. Soon after, he convinced them to move to Istanbul. Faruk Tınaz's life changed in 1982 with an offer from Maksim Casino. In 1984, he released his first album, "Yunus Gibi" (Like a Dolphin). His songs were as popular as his stage performances. In the same year, he won the Best Male Soloist Award at the Golden Butterfly Awards. Three years after his first album, Faruk Tınaz returned to the studio, releasing the cassettes "Sevelim" in 1987, "Göz Göze" in 1988, and "Şansım Açıldı" in 1989. Along with these albums, the door to Yeşilçam (Turkish film industry) opened for Faruk Tınaz. In 1985, he starred in the film "Sana Öyle Hasretim Ki," named after his popular song, alongside Meral Orhonsay, Pembe Mutlu, and Bülent Bilgiç. This was followed by numerous other films such as "Biraz Neşe Biraz Keder," "Ne Fayda," and "Baharda Hüzün." Faruk Tınaz married Canan Vural. After a few more albums, Faruk Tınaz took a break from music in the 1990s. In the early 2000s, Derman Bey and Hırçın Menekşe returned to the studio in 2007, releasing an album titled "Listenable Songs." Faruk Tınaz fell ill, and imaging revealed a lesion in his pancreas. However, he claims his doctor, who had treated him for years, overlooked the report, told him he was fine, and advised him to continue with his life. After some time, Faruk Tınaz became ill again and, upon seeing another doctor, faced the painful truth: he had pancreatic cancer, and his condition was critical. Undergoing chemotherapy, Faruk Tınaz's condition worsened day by day. He filed a criminal complaint against the doctor, alleging that he hadn't read the report. He stated that his doctor hadn't noticed the lesion in his pancreas, and that this problem manifested itself as a deadly cancer two years later. The petition stated that "the possibility of early diagnosis and treatment was eliminated due to negligence." Following his death, his wife, Canan Tınaz, continued the legal battle. Faruk Tınaz's battle with cancer lasted approximately 1.5 years. He passed away on December 21, 2021, at the age of 65 due to pancreatic cancer. The first ceremony for Faruk Tınaz, a member of the Jockey Club, was held at the Veliefendi Hippodrome, and despite the pandemic, many people were there to bid him farewell. After this ceremony, the famous artist's body was sent to his hometown of Adana. After the funeral prayer, Faruk Tınaz was buried in the Kabasakal Family Cemetery on the anniversary of his father's death from prostate cancer 13 years earlier.
