Dieter Thomas Heck and Ragnhild Heck Legendary television presenter Dieter Thomas Heck was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class, on July 4, 2009, in Stuttgart. His wife, Ragnhild, also received a Cross of Merit. Minister-President Günther Oettinger (CDU) presented the Hecks with the awards for their social contributions. Both have long been involved in various charitable causes, including the World Hunger Relief organization. They lived in Lauf, Baden, for many years but have since moved to Spain.
