MARBÉRICA for Marimba - dedicated to Rüdiger Vonhoff Composer: Johannes Steinbauer Performer: Airi Kitamura MARBÉRICA is a fictional island that may be situated somewhere between the Iberian Peninsula and the African continent. Andalusian, Arabic and African spirit is in the air. The heat of the sun can be felt in the idle introduction, which soon gives way to a rhythmic and mysterious passage and later (utilizing special performance techniques) changes into a naive-joyful atmosphere. Suddenly dark clouds appear and something ominous seems to hover over MARBÉRICA. But the threat soon disappears and pleasant sounds are heard in the distance that seem to come closer and closer and ultimately rise to a climax of a euphoric dance of joy.
