A well-marked low-pressure area persisted over the northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha–West Bengal coasts at 5:30 AM IST on July 4, intensifying monsoon activity across large parts of India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy rainfall exceeding 20 cm, over Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Odisha and West Madhya Pradesh. Heavy rainfall is also likely over parts of Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Vidarbha, Uttarakhand and the Northeast. IMD has further warned of squally winds reaching 65 kmph over the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, urging fishermen to avoid venturing into affected waters.
