Top 10 Sehenswürdigkeiten & Ausflugsziele in Deutschland
Sights and interesting places for your next vacation in Germany. Including the most beautiful cities, spectacular waterfalls, and fairytale castles and palaces. Which attractions do you think are among the best sights in Germany? Let us know in the comments! You can find more information and even more travel tips here: https://homeoftravel.de/top-sehenswur... Especially last year, we traveled extensively in Germany. We saw and experienced so much and discovered how diverse our country is. At times, it felt like we weren't even in Germany anymore. That's why it was incredibly difficult to limit ourselves to 10 sights. We tried anyway. And we'll show you our favorites. #10: Danube Gorge We start with a truly beautiful natural site combined with the romanticism of a monastery. The Danube Gorge in Bavaria is a true natural monument. The river winds idyllically through steep cliffs, with Weltenburg Monastery at its center. A visit is highly recommended. One of the world's best beers is also brewed in the oldest monastery brewery. 9th Place: Lüneburg Heath The Lüneburg Heath in Lower Saxony exudes a very special charm in summer. At this time, the heath blooms in a vibrant purple with millions of blossoms. The best way to explore the natural landscape is on foot. Then you can watch the Heidschnucke sheep grazing. 8th Place: Dresden One of the most beautiful cities in Germany is Dresden. The Florence on the Elbe with the famous Semper Opera House, the Dresden Zwinger Palace, and the Frauenkirche Church is a must-see. And while you're there, a detour to Görlitz, 100 km further east, is also worthwhile. With 4,000 buildings from the Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Art Nouveau periods, Görlitz is considered the largest contiguous heritage area in Germany. 7TH PLACE: Moselle Loop The Moselle River winds its way into a particularly spectacular loop near the small town of Bremm in Rhineland-Palatinate. The region is perfect for hiking. Some of the trails lead right through the vineyards. The Geierlay Suspension Bridge and Eltz Castle are also nearby. Here, you'll feel like you've been transported back to the Middle Ages. 6TH PLACE: Sylt West Beach Continuing north! Here lies the island of Sylt with its stunning beaches. The most famous is the approximately 40 km long West Beach. With a bit of luck, you might even spot local seals and porpoises there. 5TH PLACE: Zugspitze You should visit the Zugspitze at least once in your life. At 2,962 meters, it is Germany's highest mountain. A high alpine world of glaciers, ice, and snow awaits you. In winter, you can also ski on the Zugspitzplatt. Otherwise, we recommend the panoramic restaurant for a refreshing stop. 4TH PLACE: Neuschwanstein Castle Neuschwanstein Castle is picturesquely situated against the backdrop of the Allgäu mountains. The most exciting way to approach this magnificent building is to gradually hike. The tour starts at Lake Alpsee, then leads through the Pöllat Gorge past pools and waterfalls, over the Marienbrücke bridge, and up to this viewpoint on the Tegelberg. From here, you have a sensational view of the castle from above. 3RD PLACE: Königsstuhl These gigantic chalk cliffs are a popular excursion destination on the island of Rügen. The high-shore path along the coastline to the 118-meter-high Königsstuhl is particularly worthwhile. Along the way, panoramic views of the Baltic Sea and the imposing chalk cliffs open up again and again. 2ND PLACE: Bastei It is precisely these rugged rock formations that have made Saxon Switzerland so famous. And here at the Bastei, everything looks even more spectacular. A rock castle once stood here; today, the stone Bastei Bridge captivates numerous photographers. A quick tip: While you're there, be sure to visit the Bielatal Valley. The area is perfect for climbing. #1: Königssee It's one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Germany: Königssee in Berchtesgaden National Park. The fjord-like lake stretches below the infamous east face of the Watzmann. Anyone who wants to reach the other shore has to take one of the electric boats. Musical entertainment is provided. On the other side, a detour to the Röthbach Falls, the highest waterfall in Germany, is worthwhile. On the way there, you can also take in the Ice Chapel and the beautiful Obersee.
