This park is located in Gazipur Sadar and Sreepur Upazilas of Gazipur district, about 40 kilometers north of the capital Dhaka. In 1974, according to the Bangladesh Wildlife Conservation Act (1974), the Bangladesh government established this park in the Bhawal Shalban, covering an area of ​​5,022 hectares (12,409 acres) like other developed countries of the world. However, although it was established in 1974, it was not officially declared a national park until 1982. The Bhawal National Park was once home to tigers, black leopards, leopards, clouded leopards, elephants, peacocks, Maya deer and sambar deer. In 1985, the forest was home to jackals, sable antelopes, otters, squirrels, snake snakes and several species of snakes.[4] According to one estimate, Bhawal is home to an estimated 64 species of animals, including 6 mammals, 9 reptiles, 10 amphibians and 39 birds. The forest department has released pythons, peacocks, deer and fish tigers in the forest.[5] In addition, 16 woodpeckers were released into the Bhawal National Park in 2012. Bhawal National Park is primarily a tropical deciduous forest. There are 221 species of plants in this forest, including 24 species of vines, 27 species of grasses, 3 species of palms, 105 species of medicinal plants, 19 species of shrubs, and 43 species of trees. The main tree in this park is the Shorea robusta.
