And unsoaked peas will cook noticeably longer - 1.5-2 hours. The ratio of peas to water when cooking is 1:3. If the water boils away quickly, you can add another glass of water. Preparation: Pour peas with 4 cups of water and leave overnight to swell. Then discard the peas in a colander and transfer to a saucepan. Pour in 3 cups of water. Add salt. Chop the onion and fry in oil until golden brown for 3-4 minutes, add to the peas. Cook over low heat for about 40 minutes, stirring the peas occasionally. Then you need to mash the peas into a puree and cook for a few more minutes until the liquid in the porridge evaporates. Peas make a very satisfying and nutritious porridge!
