Piaggio Liberty 150cc Scooter Review

A user review of Piaggio Liberty 150cc scooter, purchashed new in the summer of 2022. At the time of the recording scooter had about 2.500 km and close to 3 months of use. I go through some good things and not so good things of the scooter, at least how I see it. Having transitioned from a 50cc model, I share my experience with the Liberty after purchasing it nearly three months ago. With approximately 2,500 kilometers (1,500 miles), the scooter has proven to be a good addition to urban commuting. One of the key benefits of the Piaggio Liberty 150cc is its pricing, which was around 3,000 Euros. I would prefer a Vespa GTS 300cc, but the cost is too high, double of Liberty if not more. The Liberty features a modern design with appealing aesthetics, including a nice dashboard and effective lighting. I added the optional front windscreen and a larger back box for storage, enhancing the practicality for everyday use. In terms of performance, the Liberty 150cc is nimble with a fairly quick acceleration, making it well-suited for city riding. It can quickly reach speeds up to 70 kilometers per hour (about 45 miles per hour), the acceleration gets slower beyond this point. The maximum speed I got was about 105 kmh / 65 mph. Not very safe for highway rides. The scooter is also capable of longer rides, as I did a trip along the Croatian coast, with added bags and storage for camping gear. The larger wheels contribute to a more comfortable ride, particularly on longer journeys. Under-seat storage is adequate for essential items, but it will not fit a full helmet. The scooter includes a front glove box, its size and lack of a USB port are drawbacks. I recommend caution when using the front compartment, as it can stay open and unnoticed. I lost some documents this way. The Liberty 150cc has some drawbacks. The absence of a side stand for practicality. Another problem is tiny stand on the right side which leads to stability issues, as experienced the scooter tipped over on wet grass. This broke my mirror and this is why you can see many Liberty scooters with only one mirror! Additionally, the turn signals lack sound, which is a safety risk if inadvertently left on. There are also issues with the headlight adjustment and the use of halogen bulbs instead of LEDs, lightning is not too good. Uniform lighting would add to design improvement. Overall, the Piaggio Liberty 150cc scooter is a good option for city riders, affordable, with practical features and decent performance. There are some negatives, but overall I am satisfied with the choice, it meets my commuting needs for now.
