How to restart (Prime) an oil burner boiler furnace hot water heater

A common problem on many installations is a failure to restart after the running out of oil. You get oil delivered, hit the reset button on the burner, only to find it just won't light. On modern controls, after a few failed attempts. you can get locked out of trying to reset it again. Most oil delivery drivers are trained on how to prime the system after a run out, and can do this for you for a fee. Some companies might even waive the fee.
