There was a time when dressing loosely, listening to Eminem, and dreaming of America meant feeling out of place. A time when Roman rap had rigid rules, tough faces, and suffocating dogmas. And then there was Gemitaiz, an outsider who grew up in Rome's neighborhoods, rhyming, and that constant feeling of being "different." Behind Davide De Luca, however, there is above all a story of love and faith. A love inherited from his father, who passed away when he was just 14, who "genetically" instilled in him two inseparable passions: music and Rome. As if certain emotions flowed in the blood before they even reached headphones or the stadium. Today, Gemitaiz is one of the biggest names in Italian rap, with platinum records, sold-out tours, and a career built without chasing celebrities. He sees rap as something to be shared, not jealously protected. He believes that those who have a voice should use it, even when it's uncomfortable, even when it means exposing themselves. Perhaps this is precisely what makes Gemitaiz different from the others: not the need to please everyone, but the need to always be true to himself. For better or for worse, without ever putting on a mask.
