Jesus' Resolve to Head Toward Jerusalem — Don Carson

Don Carson discusses the importance of understanding the context of Jesus' journey to Jerusalem in light of the cross. He emphasizes that Jesus' suffering and death were necessary for the redemption of humanity and that those who follow Him must also be willing to deny themselves and take up their crosses in order to truly understand the meaning of His teachings. Carson also draws onto the Transfiguration as an example of Jesus leading a new exodus out of sin, and the fulfillment of Israel's earlier exodus from slavery. He points out that Jesus held up his prophets and their importance as he preached, highlighting the importance of remembering Israel's past history in understanding Jesus' mission and message.
