2 Presses - 1 POWERFUL Saying - A First for Sleepy Letterpress

This week at Sleepy Letterpress, Andy shares an amazing print — and for the first time ever, the piece was produced using two different presses side by side and in real time. The first color was printed on Matilda, the shop’s 6x10 Craftsmen & Machinery Co. press, using Pantone 877 Silver. This first impression featured a hand-carved graphic that may be one of Andy’s best carvings yet. Then Eleanor, the shop’s 1902 8x12 Chandler & Price, printed the second color in Pantone 199 Red, a bold “Hot Chili Pepper” red. The second impression used metal type that fit perfectly inside the carved graphic, bringing the full message together in a powerful final piece. This project was a true two-press production, with both presses working side by side to create one finished print — something Sleepy Letterpress had never done before.
