"Notes from Underground," by Fyodor Dostoevsky, is considered one of the most original and revolutionary works of literature, presenting diverse philosophical themes and anticipating existentialist novels. Several passages and situations in the protagonist's life invite us to reflect on freedom, identity, guilt, relationships with others, and the disadvantages of a heightened conscience. The work is serious, but we cannot help but smile or even laugh at certain points, something Freud explains: we identify with and see ourselves amplified in the character.
