Laos by Train: Vientiane - Vang Vieng

It was a bit different from what one might expect in Thailand. After going through airport-like security, I boarded the K12 slow train from Vientiane to Boten, traveling through beautiful landscapes toward Vang Vieng. The staff of the LCR are very strict and don’t allow anyone record the locomotives, as if it could somehow threaten security. Upon arriving in Vang Vieng, an outdoorsy town surrounded by stunning mountain views, I rented a bicycle and did some railfanning on my own at spots the LCR security doesn’t control.
