Konjin, a long-established workshop in Ojiya, Niigata Prefecture, boasts a history of over 280 years, dating back to the mid-Edo period. This time, we introduce a bolt of fabric crafted by Konjin, featuring a cotton-linen Koubai fabric dyed using the Echigo stencil dyeing technique. The Koubai fabric, woven from cotton and linen, is comfortable against the skin, offering a light and cool feel even in hot weather. The delicate patterns and rich colors characteristic of Echigo stencil dyeing are beautifully expressed. This bolt of fabric can be enjoyed in two ways depending on how you style it: • When paired with a nagajuban (undergarment), it becomes an elegant "summer kimono." • When paired with a yukata undergarment, it becomes a casual "yukata." By changing the obi (sash) and accessories, it can be worn for various occasions such as summer outings, dinner parties, and summer festivals.
