Molina (Vr): La Tintura naturale della Lana di Pecora Brogna

Cristina had a dream: to open a natural dyeing laboratory for Brogna sheep wool (a native Lessinia breed) and alpaca fiber. She raises both up there, in the Sant'Anna d'Alfaedo area, where she's lived for a dozen years after spending some time in Alto Adige to run a major business with her family. But when you arrive in Lessinia, she confided to me, you feel the urge to give in to the magical call of this land: to live with what the Veronese mountains offer. So sheep began to interest her, although in truth they arrived after welcoming alpacas, a breed she had first come into contact with in the province of Alto Adige, where one of Europe's most important breeders lives and works. Her interest and curiosity led her to delve deeper into the culture of working with these materials, particularly their coloring, which she achieves using natural substances, mostly of plant origin, and animal origin (only red, derived from cochineal). She recently completed the renovation of her dream workshop, located in a place that symbolizes Veronese mountain traditions: Molina, a small village straddling the Lessinia and Valpolicella valleys, where time seems to have stood still. Listen to her story, a blend of passion, emotion, and courage for a challenge that harks back to ancient times but looks to the future, even beyond national borders.
