GWSR Cotswold Festival of Steam 2026 | 24.5.26

A short trip up to the Cotswolds for an action-packed visit to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway’s Cotswold Festival of Steam 2026! Held over the late May Bank Holiday, this year’s gala featured an incredible lineup of home fleet and visiting locomotives running through the stunning Cotswold countryside. Featured locomotives included: Ex LMS black 5 No. 45110 SR West Country class No. 34070 “Manston” GER No.229 “Coffeepot” Caledonian No.15189 Standard class 2mt No. 78022 GWR Railcar No.22 3850 2807 6880 “Betton Grange” Temperatures were absolutely roasting throughout the gala, creating dramatic exhaust effects and plenty of hard-working locomotives. Unfortunately, the dry conditions also meant that a few trains caused small lineside fires during the weekend, something that added even more operational challenges for crews and staff, resulting in a fireman passing out due to extreme hit inside the locomotive, on top of the outside temps. In this video, I capture some of the best sights and sounds from the weekend, including powerful departures, fast run-pasts, station scenes, and plenty of classic Great Western atmosphere.
