In this lesson, I demonstrate the formula for the norm of the vector product and then apply this relation to solve the following question: Find the area of the parallelogram formed by the vectors. Scalar product and Vector product In mathematics, the vector product is a binary operation on vectors in a vector space. Its result differs from the scalar product because it is also a vector, instead of a scalar. Its main use is based on the fact that the result of a vector product is always perpendicular to both original vectors. Example: 1) Find a vector perpendicular to the plane that passes through the points P(1, 2, 5), Q(0, 4,2) and R(2, 5,3). 2) Determine the area of the triangle with vertices A(0,1, 2); B(2, 3, 4) and C(4, 1, 5).
