Krasnodar Archpriest Andrei Drugai resigned from his church under the auspices of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. From the pulpit, the priest himself announced to his parishioners that he was leaving the parish because he disagreed with the position of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Patriarch regarding military actions in Ukraine, refused to recite the prayer "For Holy Rus'" prescribed by the Patriarch, and signed a letter in support of the defrocked Archpriest Alexei Uminsky. "It is impossible to love God and not be a peacemaker. It is impossible to love God and repay evil for evil. It is impossible to love God and kill, even for God's sake," Andrei Drugai told his parishioners. Furthermore, the priest called the Russian Orthodox Church a community that has nothing in common with the Church of Christ, in which he believes and loves, and called the activities of Patriarch Kirill heretical. A video of the priest's address to his parishioners was published by the Telegram channel "Rayskaya Kuban." On June 4, the Church Court of the Yekaterinodar and Kuban Dioceses suspended Archpriest Andrei Drugai from serving for "unauthorized departure from the diocese." This became known only on June 25, following a LiveJournal post by former Protodeacon Andrei Kuraev. According to Kuraev, two other clergymen of the diocese—an archpriest and a protodeacon—left the diocese for the same reasons as Father Andrei Drugai. In its ruling, the Church Court noted that the priest had been summoned to court four times but had failed to appear, and urged him to return to the diocese.
